Werner Pawlok, born in the German city of Stuttgart in 1953, founded the first gallery for photography in southern Germany in 1980. His work gained wide recognition in the late eighties when his pieces were shown in group exhibitions of works by Warhol, Richter, Mapplethorpe, and Polke. Pawlok’s works have their own very unique character, and they have a strong impact on those who gaze upon them. His style is beyond the mainstream, leading to recognition of his work around the world in museums and galleries, as well as among collectors.
