Fabian
Kahl

Moderator & Photographer

Fabian Kahl, born in 1991 in Orlatal, Thuringia, is an antiques dealer who has become well-known through the ZDF programme "Bares für Rares". His love of junk was instilled in him by his father, an enthusiastic coin and antiques dealer. When he was nine years old, his family bought Brandenstein Castle in Thuringia, which they extensively renovated and where Fabian still lives today and runs an antique shop.

At a flea market in Leipzig, Kahl is approached by ZDF to take part in a new flea market show. His application is successful: he is chosen from 150 applicants and is on air in the popular ZDF show "Bares für Rares" from 2013. There, he stands out as a likeable bird of paradise due to his age, his unusual hairstyles and his gothic style.

Since 2019, Fabian has also been pursuing his second great passion professionally: wildlife photography. He successfully completes a state ranger training in Botswana and spends several weeks a year as a photographer and guide on the African steppe.
